Deadline for entries is Earth Day - April 22, 2015

 

 

Only High School students (Entrant) from the 7 Rivers Region are invited to create a logo for 7 Rivers Recycling, LLC and potentially receive an award and/or recognition.  Entrants must read the entirety of these contest rules before submitting a logo.

 

7 Rivers Recycling, LLC (7RR) is a local recycler focusing on less traditional materials such as old mattresses, computers, light bulbs and more. 7RR has 3 goals:

 

• Environmental:  Turning difficult materials like old mattresses and computers into resources

 

• People:  Giving people a second chance in the work world

 

• Business:  Financially contributing to communities and making economic sense in recycling 

 

 

The “Contest” is open to all public, private and home-school High School Students, who currently are enrolled at a High School that has a physical address within the following 7 River Region counties, except those students who have an immediate family member who is an employee of Hilltopper Refuse & Recycling Service Inc. or D&M Recycling LLC:

RECOGNITION AND UP TO $1,350.00 IN AWARDS:

 

One logo each will be selected for 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place by a panel of judges. Also, 7 Honorable Mention logos will be selection by a panel of judges. The aforementioned 10 logos, with the names of associated Entrants, will be recognized on the websites of 7RR, Hilltopper Refuse & Recycling and D&M Recycling. Regardless of the judges’ selection, 7RR may adopt any submitted logo as its business logo. In the event 7RR does adopt a logo from this Contest, there will be an additional award for that logo. In the event one or more logos are determined to be too similar to readily distinguish one from another, then the logo(s) submitted later will be removed from consideration. WHAT TO ENTER:

We are looking for a digital image logo that is a simple, creative and memorable. The logo must not infringe on protected trademarks or protected artistic license. The logo must be substantially created by an individual high school student of the 7 Rivers Region.

 

HOW TO ENTER:

Logos must be submitted using jpeg, pdf, eps, png, tiff, or ai file types.  No more than two logos may be submitted by a student.  More than two submittals by a student may cause all of that student’s submittals to be rejected.

​​​​​​​​​​The following required information must be submitted with the logo:

~ Entrant’s name

~ If under 18, name and contact information of parent(s)/guardian(s), including phone number and

   email. If over 18, Entrant's contact information, including phone number and email.

~ Entrant's High School Name and physical address.

~ Name & contact information of a teacher in Entrant's high school who we may contact.

• Logo and above required information must be sent to Logo@7RiversRecycling.com with “Logo Contest” in the subject line of the email.

 

JUDGING AND SELECTION PROCESS:

 

The judges are a panel of community leaders and business people selected by 7RR who are not employed by 7RR, Hilltopper Refuse & Recycling or D&M Recycling.  The panel of judges will be directed by 7RR to select logos for awards and recognition based upon simplicity, creativity, and business usefulness.   In the event more than 50 logos are submitted, 7RR will use any means it believes is appropriate to limit the number of logos reviewed by the panel to a maximum of 50 logos.  7RR has the right to adopt any submitted logo or modify any submitted logo for use as its business logo.  In addition, 7RR may reject from consideration any or all logos as its business logo.

 

Once the judges and 7RR have made a short list of logos for potential recognition, awards and/or use; the short listed logo Entrants will be required to complete a more formal release of any rights to the logo. If the Entrant is not reached or does not promptly complete the logo release, then the logo will be removed from consideration.

The panel of judges shall determine the 10 logos for recognition and awards.  7RR shall solely determine which, if any logo, will be used for its business. All decisions made by the judges and 7RR are final.

 

DEADLINES:

 

Submital deadline is Earth Day, Wednesday April 22, 2015 11:59 p.m. Central Time for completed entries as described in the aforementioned “HOW TO ENTER”. Late entries will not be reviewed.

 

Logos receiving recognition and awards will be publically announced on or before May 15, 2015.

 

7RR has the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.

 

USE OF LOGO:

 

If 7RR wishes to adopt a submitted logo for its business, the Entrant agrees to grant 7RR a royalty-free, exclusive right, in perpetuity, to use the logo in any way its wishes while the Entrant will retain the right to take credit for having created the logo.

LOGO CONTEST LEGAL CONDITIONS:

 

By entering this Contest, the Entrant agrees to all of the terms and conditions relating to this Contest and is responsible for understanding their rights.

 

By participating in this Contest, Entrants agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless 7 Rivers Recycling, Hilltopper Refuse & Recycling Services Inc., D&M Recycling LLC, their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents, representatives, and volunteer judges from any and all third party liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest (collectively, "Losses"), including without limitation, any third party claim for copyright infringement or a violation of an individual’s right to privacy and/or publicity right. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.

Each Entrant in the Contest is responsible for ensuring that he or she has the right to submit the logo that he or she submits to the Contest per these rules.

 

Entrant agrees that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved with 7RR, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, before a court of competent jurisdiction located in La Crosse, Wisconsin, which court shall apply the laws of the State of Wisconsin without regard for rules of conflicts of law. IN ANY SUCH DISPUTE, PARTICIPANT SHALL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY PUNITIVE, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ATTORNEYS' FEES, OR ANY DAMAGES OTHER THAN PARTICIPANT'S ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES (IF ANY) ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST. ENTRANT HEREBY WAIVE ANY RIGHTS TO HAVE DAMAGES MULTIPLIED OR INCREASED. Websites of 7RR, Hilltopper Refuse & Recycling and D&M Recycling are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either express or implied.

 

7RR is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the logo Contest, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions to the logo Contest, including but not limited to any misprints or typographical errors. 7RR assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. 7RR is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer equipment, servers, providers, computer on-line systems, software, or failure of email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, including injury or damage to participant's or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or uploading images or information in the logo Contest.

 

If, for any reason, the logo Contest is not capable of completion as planned, including but not limited to, any reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of 7RR that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the logo Contest, 7RR reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the logo Contest.
