For the first year, mattresses & box springs will be collected during UWEC's student move-out collection event.  UWEC Student Office of Sustainability will be organizaing/hosting the event in 2023.

Grow La Crosse, a non-profit that connects youth with healthy food and nature through hands on experiences, uses mattress felt as a weed barrier at Hamilton/SOTA's school garden.

The Eau Claire County Sustainability Team partnered with 7 Rivers Recycling & other area businesses to collected mattresses/box springs from the public for the first time.  Just under 200 total units were collected & recycled!

In May 2022, Kersten Family Junk Removal in Eau Claire shipped their first load of units to 7RR.  YTD, the family owned and operated business has diverted roughly 321 units from local landfills.

The Winona State University’s Environmental Club and an Environmental Chemistry class held Winona County’s first mattress and recycling drive where students gathered more than 100 mattresses from local residents.
