7 Rivers Recycling is a 2018 Force for Positive Change award finalist, placing it in the top 20% of a very talented and high impact group of social enterprises doing amazing work across Wisconsin. The Force for Positive Change award is a statewide competition that focuses on social entrepreneurship sponsored by Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) and hosted by Marquette University.

"Make Mattress Money" Contest Winners Announced

The winners of our Make Mattress Money upcycle idea contest have been announced! The winners are, in order from left to right in the picture above: Wyatt Weege (wine rack), Willow Corriveau (lighted craft canvas), and Adam Scholze (foam painting blocks). Also pictured are Joe Etten of Up-Cycle (far right) and Brian Tippetts of 7 Rivers Recycling (second from right). Each winner received a $100 award! Students Pitch Ideas for Upcycling Mattresses during 'Shark Tank' Event

7 Rivers Recycling and Up-Cycle announced the Make Mattress Money upcycle idea contest. To launch this they partnered with 7 Rivers Community High School to host a 'Shark Tank' style event where students from the school got the first chance at pitching their ideas for upcycling the mattress materials to a panel of judges.

Aspiring entrepreneurs at 7 Rivers High School got a chance to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges Friday morning. In an effort to promote mattress recycling, 7 Rivers Recycling and a company called Up-Cycle, collaborated and gave the students materials from recycled mattresses. Students were then challenged to use the materials to create a product they would sell. They're now on a mission to prove something important.
